About SWAYAM
SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is an online learning platform developed by the Government of India to provide free courses from the 9th grade to the postgraduate level. Siddharth University has actively adopted SWAYAM to integrate online education into its academic framework.
SWAYAM at Siddharth University
To facilitate the implementation of SWAYAM, Siddharth University allows students to earn up to 20% of their course credits through online platforms like SWAYAM. The university has established a structured system for the smooth adoption of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). A Nodal Officer has been appointed at the university level, along with two faculty-level nodal officers on the main campus. Additionally, affiliated colleges have designated College Nodal Officers to promote and manage SWAYAM courses at their respective institutions.
A MOOCs Credit Equivalence Committee (MOOCs-CEC) has been formed to review and approve SWAYAM courses for credit transfer. As part of its academic integration, from January 2025 (Even Semesters), UG-level Vocational and Skill Development courses, along with Ph.D. coursework, are being offered through SWAYAM. This initiative aligns with the university’s vision to enhance skill-based learning and provide flexible education pathways to students.
The university is also in the process of registering for a Local Chapter and obtaining University Dashboard to streamline SWAYAM’s implementation. Future plans include establishing an Examination Center for SWAYAM/NPTEL courses to facilitate online course assessments.
SWAYAM at Siddharth University offers both credit and non-credit courses. Credit courses are part of the formal academic curriculum, where students can transfer credits as per UGC and AICTE regulations. On the other hand, non-credit courses focus on awareness programs, continuing education, and skill-specific training. These courses provide learners with opportunities for self-paced learning beyond their regular curriculum.
By adopting SWAYAM, Siddharth University is fostering a technology-driven learning environment that enhances accessibility, flexibility, and skill development among students.
